Day 1 - Saturday (25th May 2024)
On 25th+26th May 2024, the ComicPark took place again in the beautiful EGApark in my hometown Erfurt. Although the weather was forecast to be quite changeable on both days this time, we were very lucky and were almost completely spared the rain. There were only a few drops on Saturday afternoon, but they weren't worth mentioning. A bigger shower followed just after the end of the day. Sunday, on the other hand, remained completely dry, although rain was originally forecast.
Again, K.I.T.T. was not the only attraction this year. Alex from Filmautos24.de was there with his BTTF-DeLorean and a Jurassic Park Mercedes. Alex from Alex-Eventfahrten in Dresden was also there with his Ecto-1 from "Ghostbusters". The car had already been to the
ComicPark in 2018
. The boys and girls from AJ-Designs from Nuremberg were also there again with their impressive Transformers costumes. There were also various MadMax vehicles and some vehicles with manga-style stickers.
They were joined by the Ghostbusters German Division and the Umbrella Corporation from "Resident Evil" with two police vehicles and hundreds of cosplayers.
K.I.T.T. and the other movie cars were once again parked directly behind the main entrance this year, so that they could be seen by all visitors of the EGApark.
Once again, the numerous traders stands covered the entire EGApark. The ComicPark also offered a hall with comic artists, various workshops and walking acts and, as always, an entertainment program on two stages this time.
In addition to 4 German voice actors, there was also a star guest for the first time this time: Tom Wlaschiha ("Game of Thrones", "Stranger Things") was available for photos and autographs...
Last year's visitor record was surpassed once again. A total of 20,677 visitors attended the more than successful event on both days. It's great to see that the ComicPark in Erfurt has now become a respectable fixture on the con scene 🙂
As always, the star guests were of particular interest to me. I always try to get them to come along to K.I.T.T. to take a few photos. I had received a photo ticket and an autograph voucher for Tom Wlaschiha ("Game of Thrones", "Stranger Things") from the organizers. So I stopped by the reception hall in advance, where the autographs and photoshoots were to take place later. Tom and the voice actors were already there, so I was able to ask Tom directly if he would take a photo with K.I.T.T.
He agreed straight away and came with me to the car, which was parked only a few meters away from the hall. Shortly afterwards, the very relaxed photoshoot took place. Tom was able to take a lot of time for the fans here too. The photos were only taken digitally and you received a coupon with which you could download the picture online later. So I spontaneously took a selfie with Tom as well.
In the afternoon, Tom also answered questions from his fans on the panel stage. Afterwards there was an autograph session with him. As I don't really collect autographs myself, I gave my voucher to my niece, who is a big fan of "Game of Thrones". Tom also took a lot of time with her and she also got a selfie with him.
There were also 4 dubbing voice actors on site this year. My highlight was Engelbert von Nordhausen (German voice of Samuel L. Jackson, Bill Cosby and many others). I was also able to meet him before the start and take him with me to K.I.T.T.
I also got his autograph and took another one for my friend Toby, who collects autographs. After all, the signatures were free again this year 🙂
Sven Plate (German voice of Bugs Bunny, Will Wheaton and many others) was the second to return. I had alread met him at
ComicPark 2023
and
German Film & Comic Con Spring Edition 2024
some weeks ago. Nevertheless, I took two more autographs with me and also got another individual photo with him at K.I.T.T. - last year I had only caught him in a group photo with the other voice actors.
Magdalena Montasser (German voice of Jenna Ortega as "Wednesday") and Daniela Reidies (German voice of Mila Superstar) were also there. I also got autographs and a selfie from them and they came by K.I.T.T. again later to take some photos at the wheel.
As every year, there were of course hundreds of cheerful cosplayers on site. The EGApark is perfect for photos. Of course, all the manga characters fit in perfectly with the Japanese garden - and I also managed to pass some movie costumes again to take photos with K.I.T.T.
The nice thing about the "home game" in Erfurt is that my family and friends can also be there. My wife, my sons, my sister-in-law and my nephew even wanted their own myKITT.de T-shirts this year, so I got them in advance accordingly 🙂
The event ended at 6:00 PM and shortly afterwards it started to rain. It couldn't have been better planned. I left the car overnight this time, as we wanted to take part again on Sunday...
I had arranged to meet Kathy, Markus and Charlie for the evening to show them our beautiful Erfurt while they were in my home town. I got to know Kathy and Markus at the
London Film & Comic Con
in 2015 and have met up with them at several other cons since then. The weather was at its best again here, so we were able to visit the Krämerbrücke, Erfurt Cathedral and the Petersberg Citadel. Of course, we also went out for a delicious meal 😉
Day 2 - Sunday (26th May 2024)
As K.I.T.T. spent the night at EGApark, I took the tram there on Sunday morning. This year there were also big posters at the tram stops advertising the event.
On site, I cleaned K.I.T.T. once again and used the time to take a look inside the hall. Soon afterwards, the area filled up with visitors again.
On both days, I also met up again with amateur photographer Dajana, who had won a 332-page "Knight Guide" in one of my Facebook competitions, which was actually only included in the limited German "40th Anniversary Edition" Blu-ray set of "Knight Rider". We had arranged to present her with the prize on site. I also met Robin Konka from Antenne Thüringen and Radio Top 40, but I'm sure you wouldn't know him anywhere else 😉
Also today I mainly took photos with the great cosplayers.
A cosplayer parade through the park was also planned for 4:00 PM this year. Of course, K.I.T.T. couldn't be missing, which is why I "freed" him from the external power supply in good time. I was also happy that my children and my niece and nephew were joining me this time. Thousands of visitors lined the park roads and took hundreds of photos - a great experience!
At the end of the day, I took some photos with Alex's "Jurassic Park" Mercedes for my
movie car gallery
. Unfortunately, the sun was shining extremely brightly, so the quality of the pictures is not very good. But you can still recognize the vehicles to some extent 😉
At 6:00 PM it was finally time to call it a day. The vehicles were loaded up again and made their way home. I only had 10 minutes to get there and back this time 🙂
Summary: ComicPark 2024 in Erfurt was a complete success. With 20,667 visitors on both days, there was a new visitor record. The organization was excellent, the weather was at its best almost without exception and thousands of visitors enjoyed K.I.T.T. and took photos with the car. We would love to come again 🙂
